Miles per hour (mph) is used mainly in the US and UK, while most of the world uses kilometres per hour (km/h). Converting between them is quick.
The formulas
- mph → km/h: multiply by 1.60934
- km/h → mph: divide by 1.60934 (or multiply by 0.621371)
So 1 mph = 1.609 km/h, and 1 km/h = 0.621 mph.
A handy mental shortcut: to go from mph to km/h, add roughly 60% (60 mph ≈ 96 km/h).
