Your age in years is just one way to measure a life. Switch the unit and the numbers get a lot more interesting — here's what a few of them actually mean, and how to see your own.
How many days have you been alive?
Take your age in years and multiply by roughly 365.25 (to account for leap years) and you'll get a rough figure — but the exact count depends on exactly how many leap years fell inside your lifetime. A 25-year-old has lived somewhere around 9,130 days; a 40-year-old, around 14,610. The exact number for your birth date is more interesting than the estimate, because it lines up with real milestones — like the day you turn exactly 10,000 days old.
How many times has your heart beaten?
A resting adult heart beats around 70–80 times a minute — about 100,000 times a day. Over a decade, that's roughly 370 million beats. It's just an average (yours varies with fitness, activity and age), but the scale of the number is still wild: a 30-year-old's heart has likely beaten over a billion times.
How many full moons have you seen?
A full moon happens roughly every 29.5 days (a "synodic month"). Divide the days you've been alive by that, and you get how many full moons have risen since you were born — often several hundred by adulthood, even if you only remember noticing a handful of them.
What's your zodiac sign, really?
Your Western (tropical) zodiac sign is based purely on your birth month and day — no time or place needed. It's a fun, universal way to group birthdays, separate from any predictive claims.
