How the SSC DEO typing test works

The Data Entry Operator skill test is the fastest of the SSC typing tests. The usual target is 8,000 key depressions per hour on a 15-minute passage, and 15,000 key depressions per hour for DEO Grade A in the Ministry of Commerce — roughly 27 and 50 words per minute respectively. Accuracy counts throughout, so steady clean typing beats bursts of speed.

How to practise for it

Take a full-length attempt rather than short bursts — the difficulty of these tests is holding a steady pace for the whole 15 minutes, not hitting a high speed for thirty seconds. Type the passage as it appears, including punctuation and capitals, because errors are deducted from your effective speed.

Typing in Hindi

Hindi typing tests are usually taken in the Mangal font with the InScript layout. Switch your computer's keyboard to Hindi (or install Google Input Tools) before starting, so your practice matches the real exam. This tool accepts whatever your keyboard produces.
