Frequently asked questions
How does it decide what to record?
It continuously watches the microphone level in the background. When the sound stays above your chosen sensitivity line for about a second, it starts recording a clip; when it drops back down for about a second, the clip is saved. Short blips are ignored so you don't end up with dozens of half-second clips.
Will this diagnose sleep apnoea or a sleep disorder?
No — this is a simple noise logger, not a medical device. It can't detect breathing pauses, oxygen levels, or diagnose any condition. If you're concerned about your sleep or breathing, please see a doctor; a proper sleep study is the right tool for that.
Do I need to keep the tab open all night?
Yes. Recording only runs while this page is open in your browser (and, on most phones, while the screen is on or the browser tab stays active) — it isn't a background app. Keep your phone plugged in, since a full night of monitoring uses noticeable battery.
Are my recordings uploaded anywhere?
No. Every clip is recorded and stored only in your browser tab's memory for that session — nothing is sent to a server. Download the clips you want to keep before you close the tab, since they aren't saved automatically.
Why didn't it record anything?
Either the room stayed below your sensitivity level all night (good news!), or the phone was too far from the noise source. Try lowering the sensitivity slider or moving the phone closer to your pillow.
